The Sustainable Apparel Coalition Joins as Event Partner for SFF23, Bringing CEO Amina Razvi to the SFF MainStage

As climate change becomes increasingly evident, there's a growing demand for companies and brands to take responsibility for their environmental and social impact. In response, the fashion industry has taken steps towards sustainability by developing innovative next-gen materials, embracing promising new technologies, and setting ambitious goals to address fashion's most pressing problems at the intersection of sustainability, business, and ethics.

However, as fashion attempts to lessen its impact, it typically does so in silos. Rather than working together towards collective action, there's a tendency for different actors within the industry to focus on specific aspects of sustainability without considering the broader impacts and interconnectedness of their actions.

While collaboration has increased in recent years, it tends to occur only amongst actors within the same playing field. This narrowed collaboration can limit the range of solutions and perspectives, inadvertently reinforcing existing assumptions, beliefs, and practices rather than challenging and expanding them.

To overcome this, it's crucial for the fashion industry to prioritize collaboration, but not just between groups operating in the same domain. Instead, the fashion industry should strive for cross-functional collaboration, bringing together actors from different areas of the value chain and beyond, including designers, manufacturers, policymakers, researchers, advocacy groups, suppliers, service providers, and consumers. By working together and leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise, we can develop more comprehensive and innovative solutions that address the interconnected, complex, and nuanced sustainability challenges in the fashion industry.

At the Sustainable Fashion Forum, we strive to be a bridge between silos. Each year, our conference gathers like-minded industry leaders, scientists, educators, activists, c-suite executives, and leading brands to ask hard questions, share ideas, and find practical, action-based solutions that look to the future of fashion and sustainability.

With this in mind, SFF is thrilled to announce that the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is now an event partner for the 2023 Sustainable Fashion Forum conference. The Sustainable Apparel Coalition is an industrywide non-profit comprised of over 280 leading suppliers, manufacturers, NGOs, non-profits, academic institutions, service providers, retailers, and leading apparel and footwear brands like Kering, Patagonia, Target, and Nike. SAC has been at the forefront of promoting sustainability in fashion for the past decade, and their membership of some of the industry's biggest players is a testament to their influence.

As part of our partnership, Sustainable Apparel Coalition CEO Amina Razvi will hit the SFF MainStage for an exclusive fireside chat about leadership in the era of accountability, the nuanced challenges of implementing sustainability across the fashion industry's global supply chain, and actionable strategies to overcome these challenges.

The partnership between SFF and the SAC is a powerful representation of the importance of collaboration and breaking down industry silos in the fashion industry. By working together, we're excited to leverage our collective expertise, resources, and networks to drive positive change toward a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable fashion industry that benefits all stakeholders, from producers and consumers to the planet and its ecosystems.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to connect with industry leaders, learn from sustainability experts, and dive into the nuanced layers at the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and business.
