Debrand and Eastman Spearhead Circular Lanyard Project at the 2024 Sustainable Fashion Forum

At this year’s Sustainable Fashion Forum, we aren’t just talking about the change we want to see; we’re actively fostering it by moving beyond conversation to drive collaborative innovation — challenging the conventional and inspiring the industry to push the boundaries of what's possible.

In an SFF first, we're thrilled to reveal our collaboration with Debrand, a pioneer in next-life logistics, and Eastman, a leader in global textile recycling, for the circular lanyard initiative at SFF24 in Austin, Texas.

Designed and produced with the future in mind, Debrand is providing SFF with evergreen lanyards designed to be reused across numerous events. These lanyards not only reduce waste but serve as a symbol of our commitment and a step forward in our environmental stewardship.

At the conclusion of SFF24, these lanyards will be collected, sanitized, and prepared by Debrand for future events. Over the years, if any lanyards are damaged or contaminated, they'll be recycled through Eastman’s carbon renewal technology, which breaks down difficult-to-recycle materials to their molecular components for the creation of new lanyards.

“My vision for the Sustainable Fashion Forum has always been to challenge the status quo and inspire transformative change within the industry. Debrand’s circular lanyard project with Eastman exemplifies the kind of innovative and collaborative solutions we strive to showcase,” said Brittany Sierra, Founder and CEO of the Sustainable Fashion Forum. “By reimagining the lifecycle of our conference lanyards, we're not only reducing waste but also igniting conversations about the sustainable practices of events and demonstrating the power of collaborative action in driving meaningful change within event planning and execution. This initiative serves as a microcosm of the broader shift towards sustainability within the fashion industry, showcasing how small yet impactful changes can drive significant progress towards a more sustainable future.”
